8bitunks is a µToken collection: a 10,000-supply ERC-20 where every whole token mints one unique 8-bit piece from an on-chain layer set. Buy the token, get a Unk.
THE COLLECTION
Not an NFT mint.
A generative token.
Pieces carry identity and traits like NFTs, but the token itself is fungible and trades like an ERC-20. First on a bonding curve, then on Uniswap v4 after graduation. Ownership of a whole token is what mints and holds a Unk.
Art is uploaded as layers — one folder per trait, one image per variant. The protocol composes each piece. Possible looks are the product of those variants. The number of Unks that can ever exist is the supply: 10,000.
- Nothing exists at launch. Buys mint one item per whole token received.
- Fractions and transfers never mint. Only new buys create Unks.
- Traits cannot be previewed or cherry-picked. Looks come from a later block.
- Layers stay on-chain. Any Unk can be rendered from chain data alone.

How a Unk is born

Deploy
Name, ticker, 10,000 supply, and curve are set permanently. Collections use 18 decimals, so one whole token always backs one item.

Upload layers
Art goes on-chain across several transactions. Once trading opens, the layer set is locked. Metadata cannot change later.

Buy & reveal
A buy mints one Unk per whole token. Traits reveal layer by layer from a later block, so rarity cannot be gamed at buy time.

Graduate
At the ETH target, anyone can graduate. Liquidity moves to Uniswap v4 and the LP key is burned. Each Unk also trades on its own card.
